About Nedre Eiker

Our vision:

Nedre Eiker is centrally located in the eastern part of Norway, approximately 60 km south west of Oslo, the capital of Norway. The river "Drammenselva" runs through our beatiful municipality. In east Nedre Eiker borders to the municipalities of Drammen and Lier, in the west Øvre Eiker and Modum are the two neighbouring municipalities. Drammen is the regional centre of the county of Buskerud. Buskerud stretches from the Oslo fjord in the east to the high mountain in the west, making it a Norway in miniature.


The inhabitants of Nedre Eiker have easy access to both the river and the forest on both sides of the Drammen River. The forest on both sides of the river has nice hiking trails and some nice areas where you will find nice cottages, mainly owned by inhabitants of Nedre Eiker. The cottages are used all year long even though most doesn’t have plumbing or electricity. Solar panels and oil lamps give you light during the dark hours. With just above 22.000 inhabitants Nedre Eiker is the 42nd. largest municipality in Norway.
